At the 8:00 AM worship service, follow the people in the pew in front of you and walk up the center aisle to the altar rail, at which you either kneel or stand (both are acceptable). Hold out your hands together, and a priest will place a consecrated wafer in your hand. You may eat the wafer or wait to dip it in the consecrated wine. A minister follows the priest with a cup of consecrated wine. You may take a sip of wine from the cup or dip your wafer in the wine (both sipping from the cup and dipping the wafer are acceptable). After receiving the consecrated bread and wine, return to your pew.
At the 9:30 AM worship service, follow the people in the pew in front of you and walk up the center aisle. The priest will be standing at the top of the center aisle. When you come to the priest, hold out your hands together, and a priest will place a piece of consecrated bread in your hand. You may eat the bread or wait to dip it in the consecrated wine. After you receive the bread, walk over to the side aisle where a minister will have a cup of consecrated wine. You may take a sip of wine from the cup or dip your wafer in the wine (both sipping from the cup and dipping the wafer are acceptable). After receiving the consecrated bread and wine, walk down the side aisle and return to your pew.
At both services, if you prefer to receive a blessing or prefer that your children receive a blessing instead of the consecrated bread and wine, when you come to the altar (at 8:00 AM) or to the priest (at 9:30 AM), cross your arms over your chest or have your children cross their arms over their chests. The priest will then give you or your child a blessing. After you receive your blessing, return to your pew. Also if you prefer, you may receive the consecrated bread and wine and have your children receive a blessing.
If you prefer not to receive the consecrated wine, you may receive the consecrated bread only and then return to your pew.
Consecrated gluten-free wafers are available at both worship services. When you come to the priest, ask to receive a gluten-free wafer.
